Honoring our elders, especially the vulnerable, is a theme across virtually every ethnic and religious group.
For the Widow Corps, the commands and instructions come from God, in both the Old and New Testaments, repeated dozens of times by different authors.
With an emphasis on widows and orphans, the key message in all of those different scriptures is that we are to take care of the vulnerable in society, especially those who have no means of prepaying our sacrifice and kindness. We in the Widow Corps intend to serve the way Jesus did: without regard to race, creed, color or religion.
